Medicare Advantage Plans
MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS
Here are some things to consider before choosing your plan.
Be sure you are eligible for Medicare. If you’d like to enroll in a Medicare Part C plan (Medicare Advantage), make sure you’re aware of enrollment periods. Members may enroll only during specific times of the year. Each plan design offers different benefit levels.
All plans have a network of:
Doctors
Hospitals
Pharmacies
Other providers
Why Choose Part C Over Medicare?
Top choices, like a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico Medicare Advantage plan, will provide benefits in a way that may help you control costs. For instance, instead of paying an annual deductible and coinsurance for a doctor’s visit, you may just pay a modest copay for each visit. When you enroll in Part C, you will also get some extra benefits that Medicare doesn’t provide. Examples include help with the costs of some dental and hearing services or a health club membership.
PPO
A PPO gives you the most coverage if you visit network healthcare providers. However, you also have the option to seek care outside the network if you don’t mind paying somewhat more.
HMO
An HMO has stricter network rules. You will need to seek covered services inside the network unless you have a medical emergency. In turn, you will generally enjoy lower out-of-pocket costs.
